Time to take a few minutes away from my homework and send an update...
After every semester ends, I always think, "There is no way I could ever be as busy as this past semester." Somehow though, I always manage to prove myself wrong. Glory to God though on the fact that He always gives me the energy and the joy to accomplish and participate in everything that seems to take place on and off the college campus.
I have attached a few photos to help show all that has been going on and I'll try my best to fill in where the photos cannot.
A couple of the FIJI brothers, plus myself, decided to dress-up as Scottish men dressed in kilts to cheer on our A-team basketball squad, which managed to win the championship placing us as continued All-Sports champions so far.
On the weekend of March12th-13th, the frisbee team held is 2nd Annual Matthew Hopper Memorial tournament. We had 18 teams from across the Eastern U.S. show up to play and compete. This weekend was evidence that without God I would be able to accomplish nothing. I managed to get 2 hours of sleep the entire weekend being the solo Tournament Director over-seeing the tournament, but surprisingly had enough energy to make it through the entire 2nd day without even a nap. Glory to God!
The tournament went very smoothly with only a few slip-ups during the actual tournament. We originally had some very nice soccer fields lined up for the tournament, but they cancelled 2 days before the tournament!!! However, I managed to secure enough fields on the TTU campus to have exactly enough fields to hold the tournament. Just more evidence of God's grace....
Over the Christmas break, my family was able to get together at my grandparents house to enjoy some fellowship and eat together :-)
I must say that I'm very proud of my family and that we still know how to have some fun!!
Praise God!! I was offered and accepted a co-op at a local company called Federal Mogul. This particular branch of the company manufactures brake pads for cars, trucks, and trains. I work in the Research and Development Dept analyzing the chemical make-up of any samples that they give me.
I love working here during the semester while being able to take classes and I will be living in Cookeville over the summer working full-time.
Recently, I have made a huge step in my college career and moved out of the dorms. This is a picture of my beloved house that I moved into with Alex Hutto, a friend through campus outreach and in another fraternity at TTU. Once spring comes around, the trees should be bright and green and the flowers should all be blooming. The house is perfect for everything that I wanted. A big, clean kitchen to cook in and a lot of room for studying around the house. I am almost completely moved in, but still looking for a few more furniture items to complete the job. And for all of you who can't believe it... yes. I left Cody in the dorms, but we still plan on living together next semester.
Now that I have a kitchen, I have been cooking up a storm. To date I've made Red Velvet cake, Baked Ravioli, Fried Chicken, Rice-a-roni, steam broccoli, Funfetti cake, garlic toast, and grilled cheese. Trust me... my friends are very pleased that I now have a place to cook for them! haha
I finally have my first owl!! If you didn't know, its a small tradition in the fraternity to collect owls... thank you Memaw and G-Daddy!!
The Spring Rush Gentleman's Night. Missing a few brothers, but for the most part this is my pledge class, Beta Upsilon. Fun times...
This would be the gang from New Year's Conference 2011. This is probably one of the best parts of winter break. Just when you are ready to get out of your house for a bit, its time to go to Nashville with your college buddies. However, next year we shall be going to Chattanooga and John Piper himself shall be giving the talks!
Well... I mainly just went through my photo library and tried to pick out some of the major events that have been going on. As always, continue to pray for me and my ministry on the college campus and in the fraternity. God, as always, has great things in store for each of us according to his will and I wish nothing else than to be all that I can for his glory!
Now back to my homework...
